The Fall Chapter 2

BAU Headquarters – Quantico, VA – Afternoon – Kevin derived a certain amount of pleasure watching Penelope walk the halls coming and going like a zombie. She was a mere shell of herself Morgan’s unexplainable disappearance had taken a toll on her. The love she had for the agent was like a badge of honor that she waved in his face as she declared that there would be no second chances for them. He’d never considered Morgan a threat to his relationship with Penelope. There was no way in hell a man like that with his reputation would see anything remotely attractive or desirable about her. Penelope was Kevin’s safe choice and he had fooled himself into believing she was his forever. But he’d been wrong. She wasn’t his…never had she been his not really. The moment she’d laid eyes on the bureau’s playboy, she was hooked…that had been two years before Kevin had met her. He never had a chance. Now here she was bloated and waddling around like a penguin pregnant by a man that everyone secretly believed walked out on her but Kevin knew better. Derek would never leave Penelope and he would never leave their child. So in the end his satisfaction began and ended with the fact that he was one of only two people who knew what had happened to Supervisory Special Agent Derek Morgan. Atlanta, GA – City Hall – Afternoon – Darren was nervous as he adjusted his tie for the umpteenth […]

The Fall Chapter 1

Savannah was content giving up her life in Quantico. She’d failed miserably at being happy there and so she’d made up her mind to move to a place where she could start over. Atlanta had always been a place of curiosity for her. Several friends from medical school had moved there finding success, great jobs, new businesses and love. After taking the leap Savannah had become one of the lucky ones too. Six months of planning and getting settled into a large Victorian just outside of town, she’d managed to find happiness at last. The love of her life had followed her there it seemed. It had been easier than she thought persuading him to come with her; the thought of him by her side had merely been a fantasy until now. But here he was in her bed every morning when she woke and every night when she went to sleep. This was heaven and she promised herself that nothing and no one would ever take it from her. As she poured herself a cup of coffee she felt his strong arms snake around her waist. She smiled as he planted a soft kiss on her neck. She loved him and she smiled confidently allowing her body to fall against his strong chest. He moaned his approval as memories of the night before raced through her mind. “Good morning beautiful.” “Good morning my sweet husband.” They’d married two months after their move. It had been a quiet ceremony downtown […]

Soul Purpose Chapter 28

Unknown Medical Facility – Morning – “You’re not going to let this go are you?” The man stared him down coldly as he washed his hands. It was strange how he remembered how cold the water was…not as cold as Director Tinsley’s cold icy stare but it was cold nonetheless. Derek turned and returned the man’s look trying desperately not to show emotion. Then there was the gun. There was no other way out of the room except past the man who had the power over his career and now his life. “No, no I get it. I know all about how you pursued Ian Doyle to the ends of the Earth until you brought him down.” “If you want me to stop, I’ll stop!” Tinsley laughed shaking his head…they both knew that this was all pointless. Tinsley had ended their meeting moments ago but he wasn’t finished with Morgan. “No you won’t it’s in your nature…” “No! Don’t do this!” Derek backed up but there was nowhere to go. “It’s in your nature! It’s in your nature.” “NO!” Derek jerked and his eyes opened suddenly. For a moment he struggled to breathe as he looked into the eyes of Emily and Dave. “Hey. You’re okay, you’re okay.” Emily whispered. “Em?” “Yes, I’m here. I told you I’d come, remember?” Derek shook his head and then looked into the worried eyes of David Rossi. “Penelope?” “She’s fine. We’re keeping her safe.” Derek relaxed against the pillows and allowed the pain […]

Running To You Chapter 7

Home of Tamara Barnes – Evening “Where is he?” Without saying a word, Tamara nodded toward the couch. Penelope looked across the room at Derek’s sleeping body then back at Tamara. “Go on. You two really need to work things out. I’ll be upstairs, take your time.” “Thank you.” Penelope remained at her spot near the door until Tamara was out of sight. She wasn’t sure what she was going to say or if he’d even listen to her but she had to at least make an attempt. Taking a seat on the table in front of him, Penelope placed a shaky hand on his arm. “Derek.” He moved slightly but didn’t wake up. “Derek!” She repeated. Derek began to stir under her prodding. She gently shook him again hoping he’d open his eyes. “Derek, it’s Penelope wake up, please.” Derek’s eyes slowly opened and he turned to face her. “Penelope? What…how did you?” Then he sat up and began looking around the room rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and squinting to make sure he wasn’t having some sort of nightmare. “Tamara called me. Please don’t be mad she was just trying to help.” “Well, she didn’t.” He tried to stand but quickly fell back against the couch. “Take it easy. I’m so sorry…” “Please, don’t. You don’t have to explain. I get it.” “No you don’t. You don’t get it at all.” “What, that you don’t love me? Oh trust me, I get it! I heard you, […]

Running To You Chapter 8

BAU Headquarters- Sixth Floor Storage Room – Derek in total disbelief walked around a large stack of boxes and came face-to-face with Penelope. Her shocked crimson-tinged look matched his and the two looked like gunslingers facing off waiting for the other to make a move. “What’s going on, Garcia?” “I was about to ask you the same thing.” Without answering her Derek moved swiftly past Penelope. The door was slightly ajar with the light from the hallway guiding him to the exit. Just as he was about to reach for the handle, JJ and Reid came into view both wearing mischievous grins waving at their friend as the door slammed shut in his face. “JJ! Reid!” Penelope turned to face the door watching as Morgan tried in vain to open the door. “Reid!” She yelled. “Open this door! NOW!” “Not until you two talk!” Reid answered. Garcia pushed past Morgan nearly knocking him over and began beating on the door. Morgan watched her he couldn’t believe he’d fallen for such a lame trick. “JJ, really…a storage room? Not very original!” “Hey, it’s the best we had at the moment! Now both of you are in time out until you stop being stubborn children and talk to each other!” “There’s nothing to talk about!” “Well then the two of you will grow old and gray in that room!” “Reid, if you don’t unlock this door right now I’ll erase you and no one will ever find you!” Then it was dead […]

Running To You Chapter 6

Veteran’s Lake – Derek sat quietly thinking about the first time he had come here. The team had come back from a harrowing case, one where children had been the victims; six teenage boys…he couldn’t get the crime scene photos out of his mind. Even three years later the innocent faces with the dead eyes still haunted him in his sleep. He found himself coming here less and less now that Penelope had taken the place of the forty-five minute drive out of town. She was his solace now and… Her determined declaration of not loving him still stung, still pressed like a dagger into his heart. His heart had been his last coveted possession even though he wasn’t quite sure if he’d given it to her or she’d cleverly stolen it without him knowing how or when, she now held the deed to it lock, stock and barrel. Had he been so full of himself, so conceited that he’d imagined something between them that was not there? She didn’t love him. She’d spoken the words yet his foolish heart still didn’t want to believe. Suddenly the room had gotten smaller and his need for air and a way to save what was left of his pride became of utmost priority and so he ran…he had become quite good at running. BAU Headquarters – Penelope wanted to go after Derek but she stood stock still trying to deny the last few seconds of her life. Just as she found the […]

Will You Marry Me? Chapter 9

“Penelope!” “H-Hi…Fran, Dave…Spencer…” “Where’s Derek?” Fran asked. “He’s… “I’m right here, Ma.” Fran looked up and past Penelope watching her son walk up the long driveway. “You’re late!” “I think maybe the rest of us should wait inside and let Derek and Fran talk.” Dave suggested. “No, stay right where you are, we might need witnesses.” Derek ordered. Fran stood with her hands on her hips watching her son approach stopping next to his wife. Both never took their eyes off of each other. The fact that her son’s arm was in a full cast and a sling had no affect on the woman who’d taken a full week out of her life to plan the most amazing wedding the world had ever known. Everyone stood holding their breaths waiting for the showdown to begin. Penelope instinctively grabbed Derek’s hand and squeezed it in an effort to calm him down. “We may need more than witnesses! Fran began. “We may need law enforcement!” “Bella…” Dave pulled his wife against him. “You two come in it’s almost time.” “Time for what?” Derek asked shooting a puzzled glance at Penelope.” “Your wedding!” And with that Fran turned and headed inside. Dumbfounded, Derek looked to the others for answers. Shrugging their shoulders they cowardly followed Fran inside. “Wedding?” Derek and Penelope said in unison. The house was beautiful. Exotic floral arrangements lined the walls creating a lush colorful path that lead toward the back of the house and out onto the patio and […]

Soul Purpose Chapter 27

Avery closed the distance between them and gently pulled her into his arms. Still the gentleman he placed a soft kiss on her cheek before letting her go. She was still the woman who’d nearly died on his table, the woman who would change his life and the woman who would make it impossible to love anyone else again. “You look amazing.” She fought the tears that she told herself she wouldn’t shed. Seeing him wasn’t a surprise she knew he would be here but her heart fluttered and she couldn’t think or comprehend the moment she found herself in. He hadn’t changed he was still the handsome, serious man she’d left years ago. Life had been lonely without him and she longed for another life that would have made it safe to choose him. “Thank you!” Then shooting a glance at her friend in the bed she moved away slightly. Avery moved to the other side of the bed to allow them both room to breathe. “What are his chances?” Picking up Morgan’s chart he hesitated before answering; memories of her stay years ago still fresh in his mind. “The same as yours were when you first arrived here.” “That bad, huh?” “That bad.” Then glancing quickly over to her. “But look at you now.” “Thank you.” “For what?” “For saving my life.” “I told you before, you don’t owe me a, thank you. Besides, stealing my heart and taking it with you was payment enough.” He chuckled. “Avery…” […]

Running To You Chapter 5

“Bet? What bet?” “Everyone else was far less optimistic in their estimate but not me! No sir, I knew it, I knew it! It was only a matter of time…” “Wait…a bet? Who else was in on this bet?” “Um let’s see…Dr. Reid, Dave…” “Figures!” “Ah…Hotch and…” “Not Hotch?” She nodded as she perused her memory. “JJ, Emily, Blake…” “Blake? She’s not even with the bureau anymore.” “Oh and Fran! Such a sweet mother you have there.” “Oh hell no, my mother was in on this, this…bet too?” “Yup! Won’t she be surprised! I tell you I thought she would be my closest competition but boy was she off!” Derek couldn’t believe his ears. His friends and family had taken bets on him and Penelope! How did they know, how could they? He didn’t even know. He carefully set his cup on the table and began pacing back and forth across the room much to Esperia’s amusement. “So now that you’ve admitted how you feel and traveled clear across the country, what are you going to do now?” Home of Dr. Spencer Reid – Evening – Reid had called for backup and now JJ had joined the two in the small cluttered apartment. Neither of them were having any luck with calming their friend down. “What am I going to do now? Derek’s in California and I’m here and…” “Well the first thing we need to do is call Derek and get him back home!” JJ offered. “He’s going to […]

Will You Marry Me? Chapter 8

Home of Derek and Penelope Morgan – Evening Penelope had just settled next to her husband on the couch. They’d decided to make tonight, Movie Night to get their minds off of the continued goings on with their family and friends. She could tell Derek wasn’t dealing with the situation very well despite his denial and insistence that he was just fine and didn’t care if any of them spoke to them again. It was a lie, all a lie but she didn’t push him to admit his true feelings. She handed Derek the remote and just as he pushed, ‘play,’ her phone rang. Pulling away from him she grabbed her phone from her pocket. They both knew that ringtone all too well. “We have a case…they want to me to go with them…” She stopped as she watched him struggle to get up. “Where are you going?” “What, didn’t you say we have a case?” “Yes, ‘we’ have a case as in, everybody-on-the-team-except-you, have a case!” “Oh, so now you’re on their side?” “Baby Boy, may I remind you that you are on medical leave for the next six weeks?” “Are you serious? I can at least go into the office…” “NO! You my handsome hunk of chocolate cannot go into the office until you are cleared by your doctor!” “But…” “No but’s.” She stood and placed her body directly in front of him. “I almost lost you. When I think about what could have happened…” He saw the […]
