Soul Purpose Chapter 8

“Yes, thank you so much for calling and I’ll be sure to call you when I get back.” Ending the call Savannah quickly dropped her phone into her purse and continued packing. She made a mental note to do something special for her new friend once she returned. She’d never had reason to associate with the odd little man until now and he was the last person she expected to hear from in the middle of the night but the call couldn’t have come at a better time and with the next two days off from the hospital she was anxious to get out of town. Kevin smiled as the call ended. Proud of himself he marched into the kitchen to warm up leftovers from last night’s takeout. Knowing that Savannah was on her way to New York to surprise Derek made his heart skip a beat. Now to convince Penelope to make a trip to New York as well was next on his agenda. The thought of the two women coming face to face in the city that never sleeps made him giddy. Maybe things would work out for him after all. New York – Home of Derek Morgan – Evening – Derek had to be careful he knew that until he found the mole among his agents he had to watch his back. Everyone in the New York office was a suspect. The director was certain that at least two agents were responsible for the murders of five […]

When Truth Comes Knocking Chapter 22

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” Buddha ## Morgan stood shaking looking at his ragged reflection in the mirror. He’d sought refuge in the men’s room locking the door behind him. He couldn’t get the water cold enough to wash away the sting of being exposed and reminded of his sins. His knuckles were white as he clung desperately to the small porcelain basin remembering the prayers of his youth. He’d prayed that he was the only one; the only one chosen by Carl…but he wasn’t the only one…not by a long shot. He couldn’t ignore Jamal’s admission and resemblance. His old mentor had a type… suddenly, his stomach wretched sending him spiraling toward the sink. There was a knock at the door…a banging…a persistent demand for entrance. Morgan grabbed a handful of paper towels and dried his face and hands. Taking another glance at his reflection he grimaced as he headed toward the door. His hands were still shaking even as he unlocked and opened the door. Her terrified eyes and tear stained face met him in anticipation of a sign that told her that he was okay. “I’m fine…really I’m okay.” He’d read her mind. “I was worried…” “Don’t. I don’t want you worrying about me.” He stepped around her and whispered. “I’m not worth it.” “Derek, talk to me.” “I just want this to go away…” Penelope gently pulled him into her arms. Derek wrapped his arms around her waist […]

Internal Affairs Chapter 20

6 Months Later… “DEREK MICHAEL MORGAN, PUT ME DOWN!” “Relax Baby Girl! I promised that the next time you set foot in this house I’d be carrying you over the threshold as my wife!” Derek gently placed her feet on the hardwood floor of the home’s entryway. “And I’m a man of my word, Mrs. Morgan!” She shook her head and smiled up at him as he leaned down and planted a sweet kiss on her lips. Pulling out of his arms she let her eyes roam around the large entry. It sparkled and smelled of fresh paint. It was absolutely beautiful. Who would have ever thought that a muscle-bound super agent like Derek Morgan who tackled unsubs twice his size for lunch could design something so exquisite? The detail and quality of the work and materials was superior just like every other project he’d done before but this one was different; it was their home. “You like it Baby Girl?” “Like it…I love it!” He took her hand in his and they walked through each room. He’d paid attention to her ideas and tried his best to create something that she’d feel a part of. Her eyes widened as he described each and every detail. “I never thought I’d want to set foot in this place after…” “Shh…don’t think about that…” He turned her to face him then he placed his hands on her swollen belly. Penelope placed her smaller hands on his and found it impossible not to […]

Soul Purpose Chapter 7

The morning briefing had gone well and for the most part Morgan was impressed with the agents now reporting to him. This was definitely a change of pace and he wasn’t sure if he’d ever get used to running this office. The politics and the bureaucratic red tape would keep him trapped inside instead of in the field and he knew that would drive him crazy. The view from his glass walls made him homesick. He desperately wanted to talk to Penelope but he wasn’t sure if she wanted to talk to him. Pulling his phone from his pocket he began absentmindedly twirling it between his fingers. Just as he was about to press one on speed dial the director walked into his office. “How are you settling in?” Derek pocketed his phone and stood. Director Tinsley waved him off and took the seat in front of his desk. “Please, please no need for formality.” Derek took his seat. “So what do you think of our little operation here?” “It’s quite impressive, Sir. Thank you for making the trip from DC to meet me.” “It’s the least I could do after all we’ve been trying to snag you for years now.” “I love Quantico, Sir. It’s home.” “I totally understand. Speaking of which, how does your family like New York?” Derek knew the man was aware of his marital circumstances but he played along. “My wife and I are separated right now…” “Ah, I’m sorry to hear that but hey, […]

Internal Affairs Chapter 19

BAU Headquarters – Afternoon – Pen was swamped. Team C had just called requesting help and she still needed to run her weekly diagnostics. She’d promised Derek she’d have lunch with him but she was afraid she’d have to cancel. He’d been acting secretive all day and without a doubt she knew he had something up his sleeve. She hated surprises. “Come on Baby Girl, let’s get out of here!” Her handsome hunk of man candy burst through the door without knocking totally oblivious to the fact that she hadn’t called to flirt or fluster him all morning, which had to mean that she was busy. She exhaled not knowing how to break the news to him. “I’m sorry Hot Stuff, Momma’s busy I’m afraid my lunch will take place right here.” “Oh no, Sweetness.” He placed his hands on her shoulders and began massaging applying just the right amount of pressure in just the right places. He knew how to make her weak…it was impossible to say, no to him. “Morgan…” “I’ve got to show you something, you’ll love it and I’ll have you back in a flash! Promise!” Slowly she turned to meet that look, the puppy dog eyes twinkling with faux sadness with a dash of Morgan sex appeal. She felt herself melting inside. “I just got a request from Team C and my diagnostics are way be…” He planted a kiss on her lips silencing her protests. He had her at, Baby Girl the kiss was […]

When Truth Comes Knocking Chapter 21

Home of Derek Morgan – Next Morning- “Come on Handsome, if we don’t leave now we’re going to be late.” It had been another sleepless night for both of them. Derek had once again been plagued by nightmares and she’d spent the night helping him wrestle demons to no avail. Yesterday’s phone call had sent him spiraling into a quiet distracted place and he’d walked through the rest of the day on autopilot. She was glad that she’d come back to talk it out with him instead of going to the spa. When she found him in the garage he seemed a million miles away. “I know I don’t deserve to ask, but please don’t give up on me.” The desperation in his voice still resonated in her ears. She’d never heard it before and she’d never seen the dark far away look in his eyes before either. Of course she wouldn’t give up on him, she loved him too much to ever consider that. Today would be a test of that resolve and promise to him. Morgan buttoned the last two buttons of his shirt and grabbed his wallet and phone sliding them both in his pockets. He didn’t want to go but he had no choice. He had no idea who was behind this inquiry or who outside of his team knew the details of his life. He felt panicked as he reached the front of the house where Penelope waited patiently for him. Federal Building- FBI Headquarters […]

Will You Marry Me? Chapter 2

Derek hated the dark. He knew it was because the dark reminded him that he was defenseless and the control he so desperately needed no longer existed. It was cold the temperature had continually dropped over the last few hours and he assumed that it was now late evening. His stomach growled and his head ached from being hit earlier, he had to find a way out. Then his mind went to Penelope by now she would know something had happened to him and she’d be worried out of her mind. Worse than being taken and held in this hellhole, the thought of her afraid for him and imagining all sorts of things about what had happened to him made his situation unbearable. Kevin was eager to welcome his new guest he’d never felt so empowered and vindicated in his life. The fact that none of them had seen it coming made him smile. Being a disheveled, geek had its advantages after all he snickered. Now it was time to have some fun. Even he noticed the pep in his step and the two large men following behind reminded him that he was the boss. He’d never been the boss before even in his relationship with Penelope he was far from the boss. The blonde beauty called all the shots even in the bedroom he followed her lead like a lovesick puppy. Things were about to change. BAU Headquarters – Evening – “The locals have the area locked down tight. […]

The Christmas Miracle Chapter 3

“Speak to me Baby Girl!” Rossi, JJ, Hotch and Reid quickly took their seats around the conference table as Derek stood nearby with his phone on speaker. “Harold Simpson.” “Okay, I know that’s one of your pauses for dramatic purposes but I remind you…” “Yes my Chocolate Adonis I want you home for Christmas.” “Good. So, what you got for me Sweetness?” “Harold Simpson, twenty-eight is our common denominator between these victims. He bounced from foster home to foster home after his mother dropped him off on the steps of Christ Our Redeemer Church in downtown Atlanta. AND to make matters even sadder, she dropped him off on Christmas Eve.” “That would definitely give a kid Christmas issues.” “So true Blondie. Now here’s where things get interesting. Two of our victims are registered as emergency Foster care providers and Harold spent time in both of their homes. According to child welfare records, Harold could only stay in each place for a few weeks and because he was a behavior problem he was hard to place in a permanent home. Harold was finally placed with Bertha Masters and things were going well for a while until Harold attacked a teacher at school. Masters insisted he be removed from her home and he was again placed in an emergency home and then finally was sent to stay in a group home until he aged out of the system.” “So Masters was the first victim. He thought he’d finally found a home.” JJ […]

The Christmas Miracle Chapter 2

Home of Derek and Penelope Morgan – Evening The drive back to the Morgan’s had been quiet…deadly quiet. Derek was still fuming at the dirty trick his mother had played. He’d made himself clear, several times that he did not want to play Santa Claus; it wasn’t his thing…his style and she knew it. She knew perfectly well what the Children’s Miracle Network meant to him. He’d even donated the proceeds from the sale of his last two restorations to the network earmarking the local children’s hospital specifically. As he unlocked the door to their home, visions of revenge danced wildly in his head. Fran Morgan had won this battle but if he had anything to do with it she would not win the war. Penelope watched her husband huff and puff as he stormed into the house and head straight to the liquor cabinet. It had been a while since she’d seen him this angry. She had to admit that Fran was a force to be reckoned with and poor Derek never stood a chance. There was no chance in hell he’d not show up in that red suit on Christmas Eve now. One point for Fran Morgan Rossi, she thought. The next few days were sure to be pure hell and her mother-in-law owed her big time. Home of Dave and Fran Rossi – Dave chuckled to himself as he listened to his wife’s humming as she put away the last of the food. Jingle Bells was her […]

The Christmas Miracle Chapter 1

“He’s got to.” “What? No! He can’t!” “He has to. If he doesn’t Ma will have his head!” Penelope knew her sister-in-law was right. Derek had been dodging this for months now and both she and her stubborn husband had run out of excuses. “Sarah, tell me how I’m supposed to look my delicious, gorgeous hunk of a husband in the eye and tell him he has to go to church…of all places wearing a red velour suit trimmed in white faux fur, shouting ho-ho-ho at the top of his lungs?” The woman was overcome with a vision of her brother dressed as Santa and she broke into hysterics. Penelope saw nothing funny but she couldn’t help joining Sarah as they both doubled over with tears streaming down their faces. “You tell him!” Penelope looked up pleading into Sarah’s face as she struggled to catch her breath. “No way, Sister…you tell him…after all he won’t try to kill you…he sleeps with you and you’re caring his child…so no…you tell him.” Grabbing her purse, scarf and coat, Sarah cowardly, still laughing…deep in her gut laughing and bolted toward the door of her brother’s brand new, pristinely appointed home. Penelope holding onto the banister with dear life still recovering from her own fit of laughter watched her dear sweet sister-in-love bail on her. “COWARD!” BAU Headquarters – “Come on, Morgan what’s the big deal? It’s only once a year!” “There’s no way in hell, Derek Morgan is going to dress up in […]
