Soul Purpose Chapter 14

Amanda was surprised to hear the doorbell she wasn’t expecting company and unless the handsome FBI agent had forgotten something no one was due to visit her. Since her husband’s death her visitors were few and far between. Agent Carmichael rang the doorbell and waited. He counted the footsteps until the door opened. Her look of surprise was priceless; he’d tease her about it later…much later. “What are you doing here?” She nervously looked past him out into the street. “Come on Amanda…” “No, are you crazy? That FBI guy was here. He could have seen you!” “Don’t worry, I’ve been out front for a while. I waited until he rounded the corner he didn’t see me.” Quickly opening the door she pulled him in and closed the door locking it behind them. Then a big smile crossed both of their faces as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He moaned as he kissed her hard on the lips roughly grabbing a hand full of her hair and running his hands over her body. Then pulling apart out of breath he looked deeply into her eyes. “Did you miss me?” Morgan pulled into a nearby gas station shortly after leaving the Fields home. He’d made note of the license plate of the dark Ford pickup that had followed him from Manhattan to Brooklyn. He wasn’t surprised that his suspects would up their game and so when the truck fell into traffic behind him shortly after leaving his office he […]

Soul Purpose Chapter 10

“You WHAT?” “You heard me, I live here!” Penelope’s face turned a bright shade of crimson as she stared at the woman. She so wanted to wipe the arrogant smirk off of her face but that would only give her temporary satisfaction. The old Penelope would have broken down and ran but old Pen was gone. She was tired of being upset and tired of Savannah insinuating that she could simply take her husband whenever she wanted to. Savannah was slightly taken aback when the chunky blonde didn’t grab her little crumb snatcher and waddle from the apartment. On the contrary she merely stood there looking around as if she had plans to take off her shoes and stay awhile. Penelope closed the distance between them and invaded the woman’s personal space. Now they stood mere centimeters apart. Penelope was still deciding whether or not to lay paws on the woman who’d had the audacity to cross the threshold of Derek’s apartment without his real wife’s permission. She felt Savannah’s eyes on her back as she walked into the kitchen and began thumbing through the bag of groceries examining each item before placing it on the counter. Then after she’d emptied the bag, Penelope walked down the small hallway and stopped short of entering the master bedroom where the bed had been left unmade and a woman’s clothing lay on the floor. Savannah felt her confidence swell when her rival stilled at the sight of her clothes thrown about. Her […]

The Christmas Miracle Chapter 3

“Speak to me Baby Girl!” Rossi, JJ, Hotch and Reid quickly took their seats around the conference table as Derek stood nearby with his phone on speaker. “Harold Simpson.” “Okay, I know that’s one of your pauses for dramatic purposes but I remind you…” “Yes my Chocolate Adonis I want you home for Christmas.” “Good. So, what you got for me Sweetness?” “Harold Simpson, twenty-eight is our common denominator between these victims. He bounced from foster home to foster home after his mother dropped him off on the steps of Christ Our Redeemer Church in downtown Atlanta. AND to make matters even sadder, she dropped him off on Christmas Eve.” “That would definitely give a kid Christmas issues.” “So true Blondie. Now here’s where things get interesting. Two of our victims are registered as emergency Foster care providers and Harold spent time in both of their homes. According to child welfare records, Harold could only stay in each place for a few weeks and because he was a behavior problem he was hard to place in a permanent home. Harold was finally placed with Bertha Masters and things were going well for a while until Harold attacked a teacher at school. Masters insisted he be removed from her home and he was again placed in an emergency home and then finally was sent to stay in a group home until he aged out of the system.” “So Masters was the first victim. He thought he’d finally found a home.” JJ […]

The Christmas Miracle Chapter 1

“He’s got to.” “What? No! He can’t!” “He has to. If he doesn’t Ma will have his head!” Penelope knew her sister-in-law was right. Derek had been dodging this for months now and both she and her stubborn husband had run out of excuses. “Sarah, tell me how I’m supposed to look my delicious, gorgeous hunk of a husband in the eye and tell him he has to go to church…of all places wearing a red velour suit trimmed in white faux fur, shouting ho-ho-ho at the top of his lungs?” The woman was overcome with a vision of her brother dressed as Santa and she broke into hysterics. Penelope saw nothing funny but she couldn’t help joining Sarah as they both doubled over with tears streaming down their faces. “You tell him!” Penelope looked up pleading into Sarah’s face as she struggled to catch her breath. “No way, Sister…you tell him…after all he won’t try to kill you…he sleeps with you and you’re caring his child…so no…you tell him.” Grabbing her purse, scarf and coat, Sarah cowardly, still laughing…deep in her gut laughing and bolted toward the door of her brother’s brand new, pristinely appointed home. Penelope holding onto the banister with dear life still recovering from her own fit of laughter watched her dear sweet sister-in-love bail on her. “COWARD!” BAU Headquarters – “Come on, Morgan what’s the big deal? It’s only once a year!” “There’s no way in hell, Derek Morgan is going to dress up in […]

Soul Purpose Chapter 5

Jackie’s Bar & Grill – New York – Evening – “So how are you holding up, Kid?” Derek kept his eyes on the half-empty glass in front of him. He wasn’t sure how to answer that question since he hadn’t thought much about anything or anyone except Penelope and Saraya. “I’m not sure how I got here, Dave. I can’t help but think that I’ve lost everything I thought was important to me.” “Give it time. Everything will work out the way it’s supposed to work out.” “But what if that means that Penelope and I weren’t meant to be together after all? I don’t think I can accept that, Dave.” “Listen, if there’s one thing I know for sure is that you two are meant to be together. You two just got lost that’s all.” “She wanted me to choose. She gave me an ultimatum. I don’t do ultimatums, Rossi.” “You both are stubborn; too stubborn for your own good. If you two love each other you’re going to have to let go of your pride and meet each other in the middle. That’s what marriage is all about.” Morgan looked up finally at his stepfather as if he were seeing him for the first time. “From a man that’s been married five times.” He chuckled. “Four.” “What?” “Four times. I’ve only been married four times. Your mother is number four.” “And she better be the last, old man.” The two laughed and drained their glasses. Dave checked his […]

Internal Affairs Chapter 17

Savannah wiped the corners of her mouth as she watched her new “friend” pull up his zipper and stuff his shirt back into his pants. He was more than willing to find a secluded spot away from pesky surveillance cameras giving them privacy to work out the details of their alliance. His name was Oscar Clark and he was eager to help her in her time of need. The two looked at each other with unashamed smiles on their faces and she had to admit that the young guard had a lot to offer a woman behind bars. Savannah was resourceful if nothing else and more than that she was determined; determined to make Derek and Penelope pay for humiliating her. She didn’t like losing and she definitely had no plans on losing to the likes of Penelope Garcia. “I was serious, you know. Just say the word and I’ll end him.” Savannah smiled as she ran her hand down his chest then helping him with the last few buttons of his shirt. “Thank you lover but I want to be the one who takes the kill shot.” “That’s going to be a little hard to do seeing that you’re locked up, beautiful.” She kissed him thrusting her tongue deeply into his mouth as she pushed him against the wall. “I’m sure you can arrange for a little field trip, can’t you?” “I…I don’t know…” He felt her hand slip past his waistband into his boxers. He leaned his head […]

When Truth Comes Knocking Chapter 19

The drive back to Quantico was uneventful. Garcia had given Derek the keys to Esther and so he did what he’d sworn in the past he’d never do…drive a bright orange Cadillac with the top down alone. It was chilly but he needed the crisp bite of the air against his skin to keep him alert. He hadn’t slept well the night before and he was exhausted. Derek dreaded being alone but his thoughts and guilt were more than willing to keep him company. He pulled into his driveway and turned off the engine. His body was sore and stiff from the drive and now he regretted not taking his pain medication before making the drive from Baltimore. Grabbing his go bag from the back seat he headed toward the front door. Just as he put the key in the lock and turned the knob he realized he had company. Morgan quickly turned to face his visitor. The man who looked not much older than James walked toward him stopping just short of the steps. Morgan noticed the brown envelope in his hand. “Derek Morgan?” “That’s me.” The man handed the envelope to Derek. “You’ve been served.” Reluctantly, he took the envelope from the man’s hand and before Morgan could react, the young man disappeared quickly. Stepping inside and closing the door he examined the envelope. It was official looking peaking his curiosity. He had a bad feeling about what he was about to see as he opened the envelope […]

Internal Affairs Chapter 14

Her hands shook as she dialed his number. She wasn’t about to make a move until she spoke with him and heard his voice. She could tell a lot by just listening to him speak. The team stood nearby and waited. Sam smiled as he saw her face appear on the display screen of his phone. He knew she’d call; by now all of them knew that he had Morgan. He expected her to try and talk him into freeing Morgan but he had no intentions on doing any such thing. He was in the driver’s seat and he was calling the shots…he wanted her and he was going to have her. “Sam?” “I knew you would call…” “What have you done? Where’s Derek?” “This is all your fault, my love.” “Sam, please…” “I asked you to marry me, Penelope. You should have been grateful but what did you do?” “Sam, listen to me. We can talk about this but don’t take it out on Morgan; this is between you and me.” “So true, it is just between you and me. It’s time for you to come home we have a lot to talk about.” “Sam, you know I can’t marry you…why are you really doing this?” “I’ve always had a fantasy of being married in my grandmother’s rose garden.” “Sam…” “I must have talked to you about it a hundred times, remember?” “Sam…” “She left me that house but I have been able to bring myself to move in […]

Do You Know How Much I Love You? Chapter 18

Epilogue 2 Weeks Later… Derek slowly pulled his tired body to a sitting position. His neck, shoulders and back ached but it didn’t matter. The small whimper of his son made him feel alert as he glanced at the restless bundle mere inches away. This had been the routine for the past two weeks and Derek had resigned himself to the reality that sleep was something from his distant past. Penelope sprung to her feet at the sound of Hank crying. She knew Derek would beat her to him but she still got up and headed toward the living room. She watched from the doorway as he massaged his neck and shoulders trying to work the stiffness out before picking up his son. She knew he was determined to go it alone and that made her sad. “I didn’t buy that couch because it was comfortable. I bought it because it was cute.” Morgan smiled tiredly as he stood looking into the bassinet that had been the first official gift from Hank’s godfather. Spencer had been extremely proud of himself to have found and had it in place before Morgan and Penelope brought Hank home. “I’m sorry if Hank woke you, Baby Girl.” “No apologies needed, Handsome.” Morgan began moving his neck back and forth and rotating his shoulders still trying to work out the stiffness. “You know you don’t have to sleep out here on this couch. There’s plenty of room in my bed.” “Penelope…” “What? It’s not like […]

Do You Know How Much I Love You? Chapter 17

Bethesda Memorial Hospital – The loud frantic click-clack of her heels alerted the others that she was coming. Rounding the corner at lightening speed Garcia nearly lost her footing as she slid to a halt at the waiting room doorway. JJ rushed toward her grabbing her firmly by the shoulders breaking her fall. “What happened? Where is he?” “He’s fine! He’s fine Garcia. Calm down.” “I was on my way to his house when you called…I was supposed to help him with the nursery and … oh no the nursery…the house…it’s gone now what? Now…” “Easy, easy! B-R-E-A-T-H-E…” Garcia struggled but she inhaled a shaky breath and exhaled collecting her thoughts. Rossi, Hotch and Reid all gathered around her as she slowly lowered herself into a chair. “I need to see him! I need to see him now.” She tried standing but JJ held her in place. “You can’t see him now.” “But you said he was okay!” “He’s got a slight concussion and some glass imbedded in his back and shoulder from the shattered windows. The doctors are just removing it. When they’re done we can go in.” Reid added. The team exchanged looks. All of them had thought the worst when the call had come in. Like so many times before in the last several months this was close way too close. “When is it going to end?” They’d all been thinking that too. Garcia looked up. One by one she looked into their eyes for an answer […]
